Now they're forging documents?

You've got to be kidding me? CBS actually ran and defended a story based on forged documents? Bet that doesn't make the next edition of 60 minutes. Read some of the story here (I like Horowitz and FPM, good edge to them). Isn't this getting a little weird? The obvious bias and palpable hatred are astonishing. This campaign is going to seriously damage the Democratic party for a long time, not to mention some of their best buddies, big media.

  1. Despite CBS's digging in its heels on this story, which I guess they have to do, the evidence seems to be overwhelming that these memos are fake. At a minimum, their authencity has been sufficiently called into question that I don't think that this will have any effect on the President's re-election campaign. What would be incendiary (and great) is if it turns out that these forgeries were created by someone connected with Kerry or the DNC. I doubt that that is the case either. Proabably just the creative work of an embittered left winger (part of the vast left wing conspiracy?) with a computer. Ultimately, a real tempest in a teapot as far as I'm concerned. In contrast, the Swift Boat Vets allegations against Kerry are credible and I think will stick with him for a while. BTW, some very interesting links on FPM to websites analzing these documents.

  2. The Dems are desperate to make this stick - I see on Drudge Report that they are now claiming that the President has consistently lied about his military service because he has been saying that he served in the Air Force instead of the Texas Air National Guard.
Very weak. I don't think that is much of an exaggeration by the Pres and certainly most people won't care.

  3. By the way, in regards to the last post, see 10 U.S.C. § 10110:

The Air National Guard of the United States is the reserve component of the Air Force that consists of--

    (1) federally recognized units and organizations of the Air National Guard; and

    (2) members of the Air National Guard who are also Reserves of the Air Force.

Seems like saying I served in the Air Force is accurate if not absolutely technically correct. Particularly disingenuous for the party of "that depends what is means" and "no controlling legal authority" to question.

  4. Not to mention that Kerry himself served in the Naval Reserve. An effort to avoid combat? I saw an article comparing military service of the candidates, I'll see if I can find it.
Hope the Hawk hasn't been busy with the word processor! Ha!

  5. Actually I was wrong about part of my earlier comment. It appears that a Kerry aide may indeed have an a hand in passing along the forged documents to CBS. The plot thickens.

  6. Shouldn't that really hurt his campaign? Some hay needs to be made here. This type of action needs to be made known to those people still undecided. This is the type of administration you want running the country? Get serious.

  7. This stuff aside, I find it hard to believe that during a time of war, a majority of Americans want an east coast, tax and spend liberal pacifist to be their president.
