Question of the moment:

How many illegal aliens in this country are related to the President?  Is the current count 2?

What He Said!

So spare us any more of the bottled piety, Mr. President. Instead, just make the argument to the public that borrowing $4 billion a day is still necessary and sustainable — and explain how it came to be that this post-recession recovery on your watch is the weakest since World War II.

For Posterity

Haven't had much to say this hot summer.  Politics driving me crazy.

Had to memorialize the Marco Island golf trip from April.  PS with the most comedic moment ever.  The spit take all over the unsuspecting English couple.  Pure awesomeness.

Another Classic is on the horizon.  Good times.

A Sad Day, Buckeyes.

Don't know what Sports Illustrated has, supposedly we'll find out tomorrow, but it just doesn't seem Jim Tressel should have been forced out.

And he was forced, I have no doubt.  His letter of resignation speaks volumes in what it doesn't say.

As I contemplated the entire mess, I wonder about "journalists."  A common refrain about the Ohio State mess is that these type of things "happen at every school."  Why don't journalists make a list and start investigating every school?  They got Ohio State, who's next? Another B10 school?  PAC10?  Big 12?  SEC?  Shouldn't be hard to do, right?  Go to campus, "cultivate" a couple of sources and start getting the dirt.  How hard can it be?  There's always disgruntled people, find them.  There's always a college student looking to make a quick buck or some free beers.  Heck, if some former Buckeyes are to be believed, you just go to the football team parking lot and start noticing the cars.

Seriously, how long would a "reporter" have to spend at Alabama, Texas, Auburn, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, you name it, to start their articles?  Yes, this may be sour grapes on some level, but I think my point stands.

Just imagine the reputation of the "journalist" that takes down four or five schools.  Talk about writing your own ticket.  They'd surely get a studio job at ESPN, right?  Heck, maybe even a late night talk show.  It'd be brilliant.

So the axe to grind here is Jim Tressel, right?  I have a copy of The Winners Manual.  Is that the fuel for the fire?  His other books?  His image before this mess?

Sorry for the rant, but it's cheaper than therapy.

They Got Him.

Osama Bin Laden is dead, thanks to U.S. Special Forces.  Thank God.

Not linking anything yet, but would love to hear some of the operational details.

Good thing none of Senator/Candidate Obama's pledges came true, huh?  Would the U.S. still have had the capacity to execute the mission?  I'm highly skeptical.

Congrats to the Newlyweds.

Even if I spent the morning calling the Anglican Church a fraud.

Great quote from Margaret Thatcher:
Those who imagine that a politician would make a better figurehead than a hereditary monarch might perhaps make the acquaintance of more politicians.

Bombing Libya?

Did the Prez ever announce anything to the American public?  You know, the people he works for?

"Kinetic military action?"  Nice mainstream media, way to howl.  Where are the protesters?

Mr. Obama once agreed with his Democratic colleagues, saying in 2007 that "The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." Fast forward four years: Last Monday, Mr. Obama notified Congress that he ordered military action in Libya "pursuant to my constitutional authority to conduct U.S. foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive."
Way to change your position, Mr. principles.

Not Serious on the Budget

Pretty funny stuff from the WSJ:

Senator Sessions believes these numbers will bolster the GOP case for big and bold cuts in the budget as they square off with the President in the fiscal fight in the weeks ahead. His budget was "detached from reality," Mr. Sessions notes. He's particularly amused by the White House claim that the president's fiscal plan makes us "live within our means," and will help us "pay down the debt." Perhaps so, but he never specified what century that would happen in.

Manufacturing in the United States.

I get tired of hearing that "we don't make anything here."  Gasp!  Shudder!  Horror!

I think this article lays some of that to waste.  We don't make cheap stuff here anymore.

Here's a nice quote:

Yet America remains by far the No. 1 manufacturing country. It out-produces No. 2 China by more than 40 percent. U.S. manufacturers cranked out nearly $1.7 trillion in goods in 2009, according to the United Nations.

Lot's of other good stuff in there.

Lame, but recap of The Classic 2010.

As best I can remember, here's what happened.

Had to switch venues and not play Red Hawk Run.  Stinks, since it's probably my favorite Classic course.

Picked The Grande in Jackson, MI.  Turns out they built it on a swamp.  Matt says the mosquitoes were as big as Pterodactlys, but we'll have to take his word for it.  Personally, I think they liked his sunscreen.

Spent some time at Frickers, but in a good way.

Did I forget anything?  Oh yeah, my annual explosion, this time on the back of Maumee Bay.  Normanesque.

WSJ Article on Public Sector Unions.

Pretty interesting article here.

Found this quote ironic:

And in a 1937 letter to the head of an organization of federal workers, FDR noted that "a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable."

My how times have changed.

Funny but NSFW video here:

To the Creator of the Ohio State Football Bounce Pass.

I agree with this article.

Reading all that again just makes me furious.  Fire up the Hate-furnace for ESecPN.  Bastards!

That Sheriff is an Idiot.

This article is exactly right.

To be clear, if you’re using this event to criticize the “rhetoric” of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you’re either: (a) asserting a connection between the “rhetoric” and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you’re not, in which case you’re just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?

I understand the desperation that Democrats must feel after taking a historic beating in the midterm elections and seeing the popularity of ObamaCare plummet while voters flee the party in droves. But those who purport to care about the health of our political community demonstrate precious little actual concern for America’s political well-being when they seize on any pretext, however flimsy, to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

Where is the decency in that?

Prez O takes A LOT of Vacation.

Wow, did I pick the wrong gov job.  Let me beat the dead horse here, but if the previous guy had done this, it'd be the lead on nightly news for a week.

Mr. Vacation.

As an aside, the stream is really slowing to a trickle.  Missed 2 months of posts.  Hmmmmm.......
