This is what we are up against.

This is a terrifying article. This is really what we are up against in the "war on terror." It's hard to imagine what is most frightening: That Al Qaeda can still recruit, or that we might not take this seriously. Can't just sit around and wait for this "situation" to resolve itself.

  1. There's obviously no way to reach any kind of negotiated peace with these people. You have to have rational actors to reach a settlement and the terrorists are not rational actors to our way of thinking. "Millions for defense, but not one penny for tribute" a great American once said. That philosophy holds true here. Ultimately what that means, at least to me, is that terrorist get the same treatment Japan got in WWII, we pound you unmercifully until you capitulate. The only acceptable exit strategy is war is complete and total victory.
